Demand for automated food production systems surges following Covid-19 lockdowns
Apple Food Systems has the best twelve-month period of business in its history as food producers across the world seek more automated systems in the wake of Covid-19.
Food production emerged as one of the ‘essential work’ sectors during lockdowns, not only in the UK but across the world, and has coincided with Apple Food Systems securing a number of new orders and making profits in each month since the March lockdown.
Included in the orders has been a new contract with a major customer in the United States, for which Apple had already provided producing depositing equipment for a ready meals supplier.
A new contract has also been secured in the UK for the refurbishment of automated food depositors on a customer’s two cheesecake production lines. The refurbishment will ensure greater speed of production, and less waste for the client, depositing crumbs and leaving a pattern on 240 products a minute.
Managing Director Phil Mould said: “The past twelve months have been the busiest period for the business in many years and we have made profit month after month during lockdown. We’ve also taken on many new enquiries for our products and systems, which is hugely encouraging for the business.
“The reality is that food companies are having to look at how they can keep producing their goods with less people physically at their facilities, due to both measures such as social distancing and health and safety to reducing costs and improving efficiencies.
“We are able to produce bespoke systems for all kinds of food producers and we always do so with a focus on improving the speed of production through innovative engineering, whilst reducing costs through greater levels of automation throughout the process, and less wastage through increase accuracy and weighing of products.
